In the few months since we last wrote to you we have made significant progress on our plans for the delivery of the new infrastructure in and around Butts Bridge. Detailed design work has now been completed for all highway bridge and works and consultation with Hampshire County Council is well progressed on technical design, S278 legal agreements and the necessary Traffic Regulation Orders required. Additionally, we have held positive discussions with Alton Town Council and have addressed residual planning requirements with East Hampshire District Council.
Subject to a positive conclusion of the necessary approvals required, we plan to commence work on the site around the end of April or early May. The construction works will be phased commencing with the new link road to connect Winchester Road with Selbourne Road and some related utility works following which we will take possession of the railway line to facilitate demolition and replacement with the new structure. This possession is scheduled for 3rd September with the line due to re-open in mid-March and the remaining works on the highway planned for completion in mid-April.
In advance of construction, we will over the next few weeks be taking advantage of the seasonal constraints to undertake vegetation clearance works within the triangle site between Winchester Road and Selbourne Road to facilitate the link road and roundabout construction, including the required visibility splays at new junctions. The works are being supervised by an Ecologist and will be completed before the onset of the breeding bird season.
We will, as promised, look to keep you updated on progress and programme as we move towards the next phase of infrastructure delivery. In the meantime should you have any queries, could I invite you to email bristol@jubb.uk.com and we will endeavour to get back to you.
Yours sincerely
