All change at the polling station

East Hampshire residents have been warned to check their polling station before they head out to vote in the local elections this May.

Many of the district’s polling stations have switched location and residents must be sure they know where to go.

The changes have come about following a review of the ward boundaries by the Local Government Boundary Commission’s review.

It means people expecting to vote for their town, parish or district councillor on Thursday 2 May, could turn up to their usual polling station and find they are expected to vote elsewhere.

Voters can find out where there polling station is by going to www.easthants.gov.uk/elections-may-2019 or by phoning 01730 234350.

Each resident’s polling station will also be printed on their polling card, to be sent to all voters next week.

Gill Kneller, EHDC Chief Executive, said: “A lot of our polling stations have moved this time so don’t get caught out, make sure you check where your polling station is before you set off to vote.

“You can check online or give our team a call. We will also send you a polling card which will have your polling station clearly marked.

“We want as many people to turn out and vote in the local elections as possible so make sure you know where to go on the day!”

Candidates looking to be elected can now submit their nomination papers to the council. EHDC’s Elections Team will be receiving nominations for district, town or parish council elections until 4pm on Wednesday 3 April.
